GXU’scheerleading team won the runner-up title in the All-Female Elite Division of the Skill Cheerleading category at the 2024 FISU World University Cheerleading Championship.
The championship, co-hosted by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and the National University Sports Federation (NUSF), with technical support from the International Cheer Union (ICU), was held from August 1 to 4 in Split, Croatia. A total of 31 teams from countries and regions including China, the United States, Canada, Japan, and Australia participated. Our cheerleading team fought tenaciously to secure the runner-up position in the All-Female Elite Division of Skill Cheerleading, continuing Guangxi University's tradition of winning medals in international competitions. It is worth noting that the FISU World University Cheerleading Championship is the highest-level international cheerleading competition for university students and is held every two years. The inaugural event took place on October 1, 2018, inŁódź, Poland, where our team won the championship in the Coed Elite Division of Skill Cheerleading. This year's event marked the second edition of the championship, after a six-year hiatus due to the pandemic, making it particularly challenging. The Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education and the China University Sports Association placed great importance on this competition, organizing joint teams from several universities including Beijing Normal University, Beijing Sport University, Guangxi University,XihuaUniversity, and Guangzhou Sport University to compete in various categories. Our university sent a team of 12 athletes to compete in the All-Female Elite Division of Skill Cheerleading, where they earned the runner-up title.
